一,Unique Fine-Grain Low Alloy Metallurgical Matrix Structure and Ingredient Design
The fundamental superiority of notch toughness low alloy carbon steel pipe originates from its customized alloy composition and internal metal grain refinement technology, which forms a crack-resistant internal structure at micro level. The base metal mainly takes manganese as the core alloy element, with trace nickel, molybdenum and niobium added in precise proportion, while strictly limiting harmful impurities including sulfur, phosphorus and oxygen to ultra-low content

Conventional common carbon steel pipes contain high phosphorus and sulfur segregation inside metal grains; under low-temperature environment, stress concentrated at pipe wall notch, welding seam and surface scratch will rapidly expand into penetrating cracks, leading to sudden pipeline rupture;Micro-alloyed niobium and vanadium elements generate tiny carbide precipitates during controlled rolling, which refines internal metal grain size to Grade 8 or finer. Fine uniform grains can disperse external impact stress evenly, greatly slowing down crack propagation speed when notches bear load at sub-zero temperature, this is the core metallurgical logic of outstanding notch toughness;All finished pipes retain uniform smooth inner and outer wall surfaces, standard machined bevel ends for field butt welding, and are stacked with isolation pads in batches to prevent surface indentation notches during storage and transportation that damage low-temperature impact performance

 

二, Core Characteristic: Ultra-High Notch Toughness Under Sub-Zero Working Temperature

For conventional carbon steel pipe, Charpy impact energy will drop sharply when ambient temperature falls below 0℃, and nearly lose anti-crack capacity at -20℃~-30℃. Our alloy optimized pipe maintains stable high impact energy at test temperature ranging from -40℃ to -50℃; Even with artificial V-shaped notch processing on pipe wall (simulating surface scratch, construction collision, welding residual stress notch in actual project), the test sample still obtains average Charpy impact energy over 34J, which can effectively inhibit crack extension under external pressure, soil extrusion and fluid impact load in long-term buried service

Apart from dominant low-temperature notch resistance, the integrated structural characteristics of the pipe cover multiple complementary mechanical merits: uniform wall thickness controlled within ±0.8mm tolerance, consistent tensile strength and yield strength along entire pipe length, no local thin-wall stress concentration area; excellent plastic deformation capacity without instantaneous brittle breaking under transient overload; stable resistance to hydrogen induced cracking (HIC) and sulfide stress cracking (SSC), adapting to oil-gas medium containing trace hydrogen sulfide in alpine oil fields

 

三, Strict Full-Link Production and Quality Inspection Control System Supporting Stable Notch Performance

First, incoming molten steel online composition spectral detection rejects unqualified alloy proportion steel billets;

second, controlled rolling and normalizing heat treatment procedure is executed after pipe forming, eliminating rolling internal stress and homogenizing grain structure, this heat treatment step is omitted in cheap ordinary carbon steel pipes, resulting in unstable low-temperature toughness;

third, random sampling is taken from pipe body, welding seam and heat affected zone of every production lot for Charpy V-notch impact test at specified sub-zero temperature, tensile test, hardness test and metallographic grain inspection

The pipe body perfectly matches 3LPE triple-layer polyethylene external anti-corrosion coating system we supply synchronously.
