Long-distance pipelines are mostly buried, facing long-term soil corrosion and external damage. The performance of the anti-corrosion coating directly determines the service life. With its comprehensive advantages in structure, performance, construction, and cost, the 3LPE coating has become the mainstream anti-corrosion solution for global oil and gas pipelines.

I. Three-Layer Composite Structure: The Underlying Logic of Synergistic Protection
3LPE hot-melt integrated system: FBE bottom layer 150-300μm (blocks water and oxygen) + adhesive middle layer 200-400μm (prevents delamination) + PE outer layer normal grade 2.5-3.7mm / reinforced grade ≥3.7mm (impact resistance). The three layers work together to form a dense barrier, overcoming the defects of single-layer FBE and 2LPE, with protection far superior to single/double layers.
II. Long-Life Corrosion Resistance: Matching the Design Life of Trunklines
Buried pipeline design life ≥30 years. 3LPE resists permeation, acid/alkali/salt spray, and blocks corrosive media. Excellent anti-cathodic disbondment (65℃/48h ≤8mm is a stringent standard, general standard ≤15mm). When combined with cathodic protection, damage does not spread. Effective protection for 30-50 years, matching trunkline life.
III. Excellent Mechanical Properties: Adapted to Field Construction Conditions
Field construction is prone to collision and extrusion. The outer PE of 3LPE has good toughness, impact resistance ≥15J (-30℃), scratch and wear resistance, and is not easily damaged during transportation, lifting, and lowering. Applicable temperature -40~70℃, low temperature adapts to alpine regions; high-temperature conditions can choose high-temperature type.
IV. Stable Factory Prefabrication Quality: High On-Site Construction Efficiency
3LPE is entirely produced by factory automated coating, constant temperature and speed, uniform thickness, no pinholes, bubbles, or sags, with good consistency. Finished pipes undergo spark testing, thickness and adhesion testing one by one, leaving the factory without leaks. Only weld joint coating is needed on site, no painting required, greatly shortening the construction period and reducing field quality fluctuations.
V. Mature Standard System: Globally Recognized for Engineering
3LPE anti-corrosion has a complete domestic and international standard system. Domestic standards: GB/T 23257, SY/T 0413; international standards: ISO 21809-1, DIN 30670. Globally recognized in oil and gas project bidding, technical interface and acceptance are unified, testing specifications are mature, facilitating quality control and third-party witness inspection.
VI. Full Life Cycle Economic Advantage
3LPE initial procurement cost is slightly higher than single-layer anti-corrosion, but the comprehensive advantage is significant. Long-life protection reduces later maintenance and replacement frequency, lowering operation, maintenance, and shutdown losses; factory prefabrication shortens construction period and realizes production benefits earlier. In long-cycle, long-distance pipeline projects, the full life cycle cost advantage of 3LPE is more obvious.
The comprehensive performance of 3LPE coating in structure, corrosion resistance, construction, and economy highly matches the core needs of long-distance oil and gas pipelines. From the Shaanxi-Beijing Pipeline to the West-East Gas Pipeline, 3LPE anti-corrosion has been verified on a large scale in domestic trunklines. With pipelines developing towards high pressure, large diameter, and long distance, 3LPE will remain the preferred anti-corrosion solution for buried pipelines.
